Hey guys; I have a '03 F250 - 6.0 with a Banks 6 gun bundle & exhaust. The set up is great, but it seems to derate at 100mph. I can tell there's plenty of gitty-up left, it just fades at 100. I'm sure there's some way to turn off the speed limiter in the ECM, can anyone tell me how? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Buy a programmer that will remove the speed limiter only or when you are doing 100 mph turn the key like you are going to start it. This will alow the truck to bypass the limiter. BTW the starter will not engage(on an auto any way). I haven't done this in a while so I don't if the reflashes of the ecm would change this at all.
Good luck.
Are you sure it faded or did the speedo stop registering? On my truck, I thought it topped out at 94 mph, but after making my EDGE module show speed, I found that my speedo just stops registering at 94mph when I was really getting up to 128mph. Did have enough room to try getting faster, but she had more to give for sure.
Oh, I'm positive it fades out. You can feel it & it ain't very subtle. There's plenty more left to go, the acceleration rate is very strong right up to about 95-96mph, then the truck just feels like I'm easing up on the pedal.
Also, I checked it against my BMW 530i which maxes out at 135mph, so I know the speedo is accurate (at least within a mile or 2). Maxed out, the F250 speedo showed exactly 100mph, my wife said the Beemer was reading 102mph and she was right beside me.

Thanks for the tips. Any suggestions on a programmer? I don't really want to "stack" performance software on my truck....but, I may have to.
It's so much fun to play with "muscle" cars that weigh half of what my truck weighs, but they always catch up & pass me when I hit 100!

sounds like someone is going to get a big ticket...i here you i like the speed too, but 100mph in a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck is pretty fast, make sure your tires are rated for that, also if you have a blow out or something man you going to make a mess with that big truck...i am not preaching i like to show up a car now and then, i put a hurting on a mustang not to long ago (5.0 mustang at that)had him till 80mph and i was getting ready to touch his bumper, then i let off i proved my point at 80, did not want to kill him.
I don't want to kill them either, just want them to smell that diesel smoke! Hahahaha
I've been up to 128mph so far and she had more to give me. Yes, the tires are good for it too. I'm stupid, but not that stupid. lol
I have the 6 gun bundle and can go well over 100 in my 04. I don't know what would cause you to cut out at 100 unless it is an EGT limiting issue but I don't even come close to temp at that speed. BTW is the 338 in your name for the magnum?
