I have a 2000 Lariat ext cab, and the rear sliding window leaks somewhere. I think I have read that this is a pretty common problem, is there any DIY fix that I can do at home? It looks like it leaks in through the top and drips down around the headlining.
It's been raining all night long and so now I have a soaked back seat, great. Hopefully there is something I can do to fix this that won't cost a fortune.
There is a TSB on this problem. Basically you have to replace the whole rear window. Took me about 6 hours. I paid about $260 for the window assembly and $20 for the sealant. Good Luck.

Lower your deductible down to 0 for comprensive and wait a few weeks then make a claim on it... j/k but it does work. Replacement is the only fix I know of, I had to do mine on my '98. Bought it broke and didn't know it until it rained a few times and finally noticed it. Sucks.
YOU DO NOT have to replace the whole window. Read that last POST on this same topic. Go buy a tube of silicone, black my preference, go neatly around the the trim around the window against the body of the truck and all the way around the third brake light. It either leaks through the gray window trim and the body of the truck or the 3rd light. Leave NO spaces for water to leak through open...seal it all. If you do it neatly, it looks nice and is hard to notice anything is there. Cost me about $10 and my window has been LEAK FREE for over a year now. Screw paying all that money and replacing the whole window!
I had a local glass shop fix my 1997 F150. He charged $35 and says he has fixed a lot of them. He pulls the window out and reseals it. It has been leak free ever since. Ford dealer wanted several hours labor to fix.
