carb. trouble
My 54 F-100 has the original 6cyl. with the glass bowl on the front of the carb and the bowl fills up with gas all but about an 1/8 in. from the top. The float apears not to be sunk but at its top travel. If the float had a hole in it I think it would be at the bottum,is this correct.The carb was rebuilt by the past owner. It just wont run good at low speeds. A nd when you try to restart after five min. you have to hold the pedal to the floor.

Having to hold the throttle wide open to get it to start is a classic symptom of a flooded engine. I would suspect the float is too high. Also some people are better at rebuilding carbs than others. You might want to do this again, yourself, to be sure it's right. Good luck.

I had trouble finding the level specs on my 51 226 Flathead and wound up pulling the top off the carb 3 times before getting it right. I does sound to me like your float is too high I would look up the settings for it and set it to them.
