Question 83 v. 86

Hello:
Are there any real difference between the 1983 and 1986 6.9 diesel f-250?
Thanks

I don,t think there are any major differences. I have an 84 that had cracked heads, I bought an 86 for parts, I swaped the heads and several other parts and they all fit without any noticeable difference

By 86 Ford had improved the Glow Plug System and Fuel/Water Separator.

The 86 has the same glow plug system and water seperator that the 83 has.
The change was in the 87 model.

The 83 block was a bit thinner in the block heater area, there are reports of problems using the block heater on the early model blocks.

Dave is right, it has been 13 years since I upgraded my 84' to a 93'. Other than owning the 84 F250 with the 6.9l, the 80's were not the best times of my life.
