Unhappy Just Joined...Need Some Help

New To FTE...I have some issues with my truck, if anyone can help...would be appreciated.

1. During Cold Starts, hissing can be heard from exhaust(I am told this is normal until the engine warms up)...problem is, it doesn't turn off.

2. Already had the rear axle sensor replaced (25,000k), new one didn't last a week.(as soon as it rains, that's it!?!)

3.My truck obviously has a PTO installed with an automatic idle-up. At random the idle-up doesn't work. I'm told the PTO assembly and wiring are fine, but dealer can't find a reason either.

Any help or advice at all would be appreciated.. Thanks again

Is this your first 6.0L? I think you may be hearing the Turbo spooling. I hear it on mine. Sounds like a turbine airplane sitting on the runway. I love it on mine. lol

Haven't had any issues with that on mine so I can't help here.

I don't have the PTO on mine, but mine will go into a high idle to warm up. It takes about 20-30 seconds sitting in park and then idle's up. Do you have the four Auxillary switches in yours? I wired the AUX 4 (10 amp switch) to a factory wire under the dash that forces mine into a high idle when switched on, in park and parking brake on. If you want the information, I'm sure I can find the diagram that described that hook up and let you know.

Hey Thanks

Thanks for the input... My aux switches are all in use exept #4 and that's for My amplifier.

Anyhoo about the turbo....i know that once it's warmed up, that wannabe exhaust brake thingy is supposed to shut off but it doesn't. I don't mind the sound but it's robbing serious power and killing my fuel economy. My truck only has a 55L tank and i need all the mileage i can get.

Certainly somebody else will chime in soon that might have an idea. I'm getting about 16mpg around town and 19-20MPG on the highway if I keep my foot off it. Anybody else help out on this problem????

Nope, I Found Out It Definetly is coming from the turbo, have it scheduled to go in for other stuff to be fixed, will have to add this to the list as it's getting worse and i now have next to no power...

Will pose what they say when i get it back.

It would be good if you let us know what year of truck you are trying to fix. I realize that your username says 06 superduty, but lot's of people own more than one truck.

If you feel adventurous, you can remove the intake tube to the turbo inlet so you can spin the turbo impellar with your fingers. My guess is that it will feel very rough or will be frozen when you try to turn it.
