have read a few posts on tapping noise, truck just started making noise at 128,000. I am pretty sure it is a lash adjuster. has any one figured out a way to resolve this problem.

If you can figure out which one it is, change it
Have you tried going to thicker oil and see if the noise gets quieter? Not a long-term fix, just something quick to see if anything changes.
Figure out which side of the motor it is, pull the valve cover and check for anything obviously wrong with either the cam follower (rocker arm) or the cam. If nothing's wrong, change out the adjuster.
I'm pretty sure they can be changed without removing the cam.
You probably need a special tool to compress the valve spring (make sure the piston is at bottom-dead-center first!)...
if it is you need a specail tool to compress the spring and valve to get the roller follower out. but also at your mileage you may want to drop the oil pan clean it out and change the pickup tube as you could also be haveing lowered oil pressure causing it. std oils in the newer motors don't get along and form sludge big time
