The truck in your gallery says it's a 2000, so it should have the forged rods, I don't believe any of the 2000 model year trucks have been shown to have the PMR rods atleast that I have seen. 2001 model year seems to be a roll of the dice and from what I have read you have to physically look to know for sure.
on the left side of the engine block near the oil filter housing, there is a 5/16" drive plug screwed in the block just above the pan rail. open the hole up, use a mirror and light to see up in the hole. if you do not see anything, get out and bump the starter a tad with the ignition, get back under and look again. or you could get someone else to bump the starter if you want. it took me 5 or 6 times to get the end of the rod to line up with the hole. if you see a 12pt bolt it is a PMR rod, and if you see a stud with a 12pt nut on the end, it is forged. i checked, and i have PMRs, i knew i would. i picked up a set of forged rods for my build, and i will have them balanced and cryoed, if i even use them at all. i may go with Cunningham rods for the "build"
My engine sticker on the valve cover says 09 Sep 00 and I have PMRs. It is from the Indianapolis engine plant. I'm not happy about it but they are supposedly good for up to 400hp. Some day I may just find out what they are good for as it will not stop what I currently want to do with the truck.
I believe it also depends on what engine plant made the engine as to when they ran out of forged units.

I still don't understand how that happened. My 12 Sep 00 motor was forged...er, well technically it still is forged, it's just laying on a pallet in the garage now.
Man Scott, I wish it were different but it isn't. I checked and checked, looked at photos on DIs site I belive it was, and in denial, checked again. I put about 100 miles on that engine turning it over by crank pulley to no avail. Finally, a beaten man, I buttoned it back up.
I guess my only point for revisiting this like I do every time it comes up is so that others will know that you have to check.
