I've done the search, and there hasn't been any new responses to this.
I'm looking for replacement shocks for a 2003 Expy 4x4 non-LLS. I'd like to use Bilsteins since I've had good luck with them in the past on different vehicles. The truck is mostly a long distance highway cruiser that tows a 6500# travel traier and sees some mild off-highway driving as well. Any suggestions?
just keep in mind the new 03+ shocks/struts run 180.00 each. because ford went to a modified strut system you will need a spring compressor to do the job.
If you do not have a spring compressor and you are looking to buy one, do not go the cheap $10 ebay route. Go to NAPA or another auto parts store and pick one up of decent quality. I made the mistake of using the cheapy when I was putting my 2" Daystar kit on and the compressor snapped after about 6 turns into it. Luckily the spring wasn't compressed far, so nothing got broke and nobody got hurt, but it could have been scary.
With a good spring compressor, changing the shochs should be pretty easy for you.
