Does anyone here know alot about jet boats? I just bought one, and need help with the engine setup. There are no coolant hoses attached to the engine, but there are a few nipples for them, I need to know how the hoses are routed. If anyone knows how this is supposed to be set up or a website that has it, it would really help. Thanks.
You should have a nipple on the jet drive for the incoming water that will run to the water pump. There should be two exit water nipples or there may only be one that runs to a T. You must have exhaust water going to each header unless they are the type that have no water jackets as sometimes is the case with full drag boats. These ports in the headers MUST be clean and not obstructed in any way or expect trouble. Also, do not launch the boat unless the exhaust is over the water line. Some of these older boats the exhaust is at the water line and when you have gear, gas, brewskys, etc in the boat, the exhaust is under the water and fills the engine with water. The elbows are suppose to eliminate that but they sometimes aren't high enough. A water logged engine from that era was common..............and expensive.
Does the hose from the jet go to the water pump plate, or to the thermostat housing. Both have 2 fittings for hoses. And then whatever one it goes into, I'm guessing the other ones run to the headers?
I wished I could find you a decent picture for you to understand. A typed explantion is just to much. Here is a link to Ebay motors for a Berkley drive complete with the plumbing. Yours will be very similiar. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BERKE...QQcmdZViewItem
Sorry I couldn't help more. Hope you find this quick as this auction is just about over.
