I posted a while back about a swap I did 88 f-150 302/aod to 351/aod. I got very good info from you all! I was told to find a computer out of a 88-89 with 351 auto. I searched every wrecking yard in this town and found ONE truck with this setup, and guess what: the computer was gone! I have read on this forum that my stock computer should work. It starts fine, idles fine, part throttle aceleration fine., WOT fine. My problem is part throttle cruise. I get a code 41. I understand this is a common problem with some of these trucks. 41 is lean mixture, which puts computer into open loop. The truck is almost undriveable at cruise. It seems to get worse the warmer the temperature outside is. Last night I drove it while it was about 70 out and it did not seem that bad. SO do I still look for the proper computer ( can you guarantee my wife this WILL work!!
or do I need to look for other issues? I am just about ready to put 4bbl on it, I have a donor truck with all parts. Really want to keep FI. Have done many searches on this forum, have come up with great ideas, but so far none have helped.
That is what I needed to know! I just looked at Advance Auto's website, and they have them! However "them" is about 10 different part numbers. Is there any way to look up which one is close to my application?
