Problem with Dealer, what should I do???

yo F!

Hope it's there by this morning!

Is that salesman still checking the records for it or is he just reporting back to you?

Do you have time to cruise their lot, incl. the service dept and body shop?

Be well and my team is out of the playoffs; Eagles.

Problem with Dealer, what should I do???

ever thought of going and ordering a second truck from another dealer? the one that comes first is the winner. i am considering this strategy next time!

I feel your pain. they won't tell me where my truck is...i'll flip out if they lost it!

Problem with Dealer, what should I do???

Update 12:25 PST I called the dealer again and this time he had a real story for me and it goes a little something like this.
Dave, (me): Hey What news on my truck today?
SLREP: Well I did not want to tell you until I can have the owner confirm this BUT, (note the but is big) it appears that somebody forgot to cut the hole in your roof . Nobody wants to admit to it
but it looks like somebody never punched out the little circle next to moon roof on your punch card it went through production and never got a moonroof.
Ford is building a new truck and will ship it as soon as it is done.
Dave: How long will this take?
SLREP: Can't say, but it will be a brand new truck.
Dave:

Problem with Dealer, what should I do???

Owner of the dealership just e-mailed me the following options.
1. re-order 6-8 more weeks
2. Accept the truck without the moonroof for the adjusted price.
3. Tell em all to pound salt and go to a different dealer.

I need more time.
time to absorb the news!
Time to forget the anxiety of the wait.
Thyme to make a quality meatloaf.

Franklin3 is now accepting suggestions

What would you do if you were me at this point?

Problem with Dealer, what should I do???

1) Can you wait another 6-8 weeks? You'll get exactly the truck you want, and there just might be an incentive by then.

2) The dealer could have an after-market roof put in by ASC. The unit that goes in at the plant is made by ASC, anyway. A good after-market installer can do as good a job as the factory. A so-so installer will really louse it up. Either way, I wouldn't pay a penny more than the factory invoice price of a sunroof. That's the least they can do for your aggrivation.

3) I don't see any advantage in going to another dealer, unless they have just what you want in stock. They're not going to be able to order one any quicker than the original dealer, and they have no time invested at this point.

I don't know if any of this helps, just my .02. I honestly don't know what I would do in your situation. By the way, I think you mentioned that "the dealer has the invoice, but there's no VIN." That's impossible. EVERY invoice has a VIN, period. I'd ask to see this invoice they're talking about

6-8 wks....isn't that what they told you last time?

seems like most of the people waiting for SD's on this site are waiting at least that long (incl. me).

i would definately see about an aftermarket roof & take the truck now!

and yes...there definately is a vin if the truck has been built. i already have my vin...just no truck yet.

Problem with Dealer, what should I do???

I did'nt mean to imply there was no VIN, there is a Vin on the invoice and it matches the VIN I was given Last November. There is also a line Item for the factory moonroof on the invoice. There just isn't a truck.
I called Ford Customer Relationships and was told that the truck with my VIN was built 12-9-02, delivered 12-30-02, and Inspected and serviced on 1-17-02.
I called on a freind to run the VIN to see if this VIN has been
registered.
I called the Dealer and asked to see the truck since I have the option of accepting it as is. I have not heard back yet.
I had not thought about the aftermarket moonroof. I will check the forum I beleive there is a disscussion on that topic.

Thanks to all good advice again.
Karic is there some law that says every Canadian will own a chainsaw? or are you guys born with them. what model do you personally prefer.
Al theres another topic on the general conversation that could use your input.

Franklin-

I don't get it? delivered 12/30? serviced 1/17? have they been waiting 3 wks to tell you about this? or am i missing something?

i go by the dealer every time i am near to see if mine came in. (unfortunately its 20 min. away....or i'd go by every day)
i'd hate to think they got it delivered and didn't let me know!

The number for Ford Customer Relationships is posted on their Website, Ford home page, contact us, and there is e-mail telephone and fax numbers listed. I don't know if theres any rules against posting their number since its public information and I'm not selling anything or soliciting anything here it is
1 800 392-3673 they're in Ontario Canada.
Back to my truck I checked website and found local rep for the ASC moonroof an sure enough lady says oh yes we install for lots of local dealers. quoted me a price around 5hun over factory.
I sent this over to the dealer and told him that I would accept the truck if he will have this product installed at no charge to me. I have not heard back.
Yes you heard me right when I said it was built, delivered and serviced. I was never called because the dealer denies that it ever happened. He claims that the truck never was shipped.
Ford CR department says it was. He said She said. I know its not ther now cuz I checked everywhere.

besides being awfully sleazy...i am not to sure that is legal for them to 'hide' the truck from you. if that were me i wouldn't even continue to deal w/ the dealer. perhaps the ford reps can negotiate the deal for you? isn't that what they are there for.

a buddy of mine a lemon issue w/ a mercury mountaineer and he handled it all through the rep.

anyways...installing the new roof seems like the fair thing to do. and besides...the dealer losing $500 bucks should be no big deal....i would think you'd be pretty loyal afterwords if they truly took care of you!

This just gets stranger and stranger, but if Ford Customer Relations is telling you that the truck has been "delivered, serviced and inspected," then the dealer has the truck! I've GOT to believe at this point that the truck arrived at the dealership damaged, and they're getting it repaired. How else could the other stuff be done? I know I sound like a broken record, but please, PLEASE inspect this truck for evidence of body work. Hey, s**t happens, nobody's perfect, and vehicles do get scratched in transit. We fix 'em and life goes on. But for the amount of time involved here, I'm beginning to suspect some serious bodywork. As for the "missing sunroof," that's beginning to sound like the dealer's excuse to delay delivery. I could be dead wrong, but you need to proceed very carefully from this point. There's just too much evidence against the dealer, in my opinion.

sorry to keep harping on these things but....

if they never got the truck and/or don't know where it is...then how can they offer to give you the truck 'as is'?

do they have another off-site lot(s) they you haven't checked. the dealer i am going through has 2 off site lots.
