Smile Help !!!!

The wife says that she saw an Excursion on the local lot. Its an 03 7.3 with 97,000 miles they want 16,999 for it or at least thats what the sticker says. Its a limited with all the goodies plus 4x4 is it worth it. Oh and it does have a trailer brake controler installed.

What's the problem? What your wife wants, she gets.

True but does it sound like a good deal or is it to much. And what should I look for as in problems.

Just tell me the name of the dealer, and I'll take care of this so your wife won't make an issue of it anymore. (hee-hee)

Well my wife spoke with the salesman this morning and he is going to bring the Excursion to my current job site around 9 Am. Is he trying to hard to sell this thing or not. Wish me luck. What should I be looking for as in problems.

P.S. Its a 6.0 And here is a link to the dealer site http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/search...lor=&x=128&y=7

Well, that's the first year of the 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel engine. Might want to have a look around the 6.0L Diesel engine forum. The 100,000 Mile warranty is pretty much up so any problems now are yours to deal with.

Some opinions may differ but you would NEVER get me to part with my money for an 03 Sick liter. Anything year after that I can deal with provided some of the warranty is left.

When Ford themselves buy off the 03 owners by giving them huge rebates and discounts on later year 6.0L's then you KNOW the 03s have problems.

Your choice on what you do though. Hell, it may be completely updated and will give you 100K trouble free miles.

True, very true....

That's really low for a nicely equipped '03 especially with a 6.0.

KBB lists it at $30,190.

The Autotrader site says it's $22.995.

If they want to sell it to you for $16,999, jump on it and let that be that. Just make sure there isn't some sort of strange catch. As with any used vehicle, I'd recommend having an OASIS report done, especially seeing as this is a 6.0 we're talking about. You can take the VIN to any Ford local dealer and they'll let you know whether that vehicle is worth buying or not. I'll see if I can have one run for you, it should take about 1-3 days. I'd also see if they are willing to sell you or throw in a good solid warranty. If not, I'd walk away. But lets see what the report has to say...

I'd jump on it. Yeah there were some problems with the 6 liter that year but I bet trade in on that is more than 17k so I think it sounds pretty darn good!

The salesman returned to my site this morning and we finished the paper work and I cut the check so its sitting on site all mine. I havent told the wife yet as far as she knows I am still thinking about it. She will be suprised when I drive it home. I think I made a good deal on this one.
