E-350 Rear
I have a 2003 E-350 V-10 with a 3.73LS differential.I don't tow but drive almost exclusively in local traffic.I wish I had given more consideration to the rear when I ordered the truck.My salesman said since I wasn't planning to tow the 373 was the way to go.In hindsight I would have definitely got the 4.30 rear.The truck is always loaded with tools and I'm less than thrilled by the drivetrain at lower speeds when you need that extra torque to get going.I know the 6.8 is a good motor so I assume it's a combination of the 3.73 rear and the soft shifts of the 4R100 tranny.My question is how costly (approximately) and feasible is changing the gears in the 3.73.I don't even care if I lose the limited slip feature as I found it didn't make that big of a difference when driving in the snow.I have a friend who is a mechanic and would give me a break on the labor.I know very little about this subject so I thought I'd ask you guys first before I approach my buddy about possibly doing the work.Thanks
