MBRP CAT Back / Have to cut rear exhst out?
OK, I have an MBRP CAT Back on the way to my door. I have read many posts on installing this set-up and most say you have the cut the rear exhasut pipe to get it out...unless taken to a shop with a lift.
Is this really necessary..I'd like to do the install myself at home and not pay the $$....oh yeah, while also staying away from cutting the stock one out.
Has anyone taken the stock exhaust out in the driveway at home w/o cutting? I read somewhere they recommend you remove the spare tire..and/or remove shock. Will this provide enough clearance to get the old one out in one piece?
I have an 04 F250 6.0 PSD..
Thanks

so cut it out. put in a cat delete pipe. keep you cat. leave the mbrp muffler in (dont run straight pipe) and in the event you do have problems take 20 minutes and bolt the cat back in if you have to. if you do this there is nothing they can deny. you are not even changing your down pipe so dont worry about it. if the dealer hassles you about this i recomend you take your buisness elsewhere

As you know, I had to cut mine...
Just so you know what I tried before I cut it (I didn't want to cut mine either):
I had a Sears 3 ton hydraulic jack, with (2) 4X4's stacked on each other.
The jack was under the frame- right under the passenger back seat- which was the lowest point that I could find... I had the jack ALL the way up, and i still wrestled with it for about an hour (backwards, forwards, twisting the tailpipe, etc) before I gave up and cut it.
You WILL have to add things to get the truck high enough to get the stock one out w/ out cutting it, and that will be a VERY dangerous situation..
You will NOT have any warranty issues with a cat back exhaust... Don't worry about switching it out every time you take it to the dealer.

Let's put it this way... lots of people replied that their install was not that bad, but NOBODY said that it was done by just jacking up the truck. Those peeps all said "just cut the tailpipe", so I took that to mean that it really does have to be cut- unless you have a shop lift..
Good luck buddy!
