Thumbs up Fuel gauge, fuel sending unit, fuel pump failures.

WE all need to file a complaint about these problems with the NHTSA. If enough complaints are received perhaps a recall will be issued or class action can begin. I filed my complaint at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov

Why do you think the NHTSA cares about a fuel gauge that is slow to show that it's full? That's not really a safety issue.

re : fuel gauge not working

The fuel gauge does not work at all because there is a faulty sending unit in my 2005 sport trac. These vehicles also have a history of a defective fuel pump. This is a common issue in Fords and it is a safety factor if you do not know when, where or how you will run out of gas or if the fuel pumpo stops working. I would not want to have my vehicle stop in a busy highway, heavy traffic, a deserted roadway or on a mountain road......NHTSA should care.

It's not too common for a fuel pump to fail while the vehicle is running. Likewise, it's not just a Ford issue that fuel pumps fail, they all do. I have yet to see a class action lawsuit benefit anyone other than the law firm filing it (assuming they win). The law firm gets millions, the participants get well under what they claim their losses were in the filing, and the manufacturer gets to raise prices for everyone else to offset their losses.
