!999 F350 4x4 Diesel, Stalls when trying to give it any throttle while in reverse. Will backup slowly under idle, but if I give it any throttle, the engine stalls, kind of like when you let the clutch out too fast on a 4 speed. Tranny shop thinks it might be the front pump, another shop says torque converter. Any ideas?
Also, front hubs won't disengage automatically when trying to take the truck out of 4 wheel drive. Any ideas?
It may very well be the torque converter clutch engaging and killing the motor. But that doesn't mean the converter is bad. In fact, it means the clutch is working properly. The problem is the clutch is being forced on when its not supposed to be.
The pump supplies the pressure to apply the clutch. The pump itself may have an internal pressure leak or it may be a pressure leak in the valve body or converter feed.
You will need to have a competant transmission shop diagnose the problem.
