Unhappy Idiot light

I have a 03 F250. I bought it used in Apr of 05 with 21k miles on it. I haven’t had any problems with it until about 3 weeks ago. I had the check engine light come on but the truck seemed to run fine. I took it in and was told the EGR needed replacing. They replaced it and the truck was fine for a day then the light came back on. I took it in and they said the turbo failed. They replaced it. That worked for about a week and now the light is back on. The dealer has been good to work with (I have 38k miles on it but they are fixing it for free) however I’m losing confidence with the techs there, and although it seems I will have a new motor soon at this rate I just want it fixed. Any ideas? The truck seems to run fine but the check engine light keeps coming on.

3rd time a charm?

Just got the truck back for the 3rd time. This time he said it was the computer dropping the programing. I have never had this problem until I had the recall flash done on it. Since the recall flash I have had the EGR and Turbo both fail. I guess I am now an official member of the Ford 6.0 club. I still have to say the dealer has been really good to work with. I hope its all fixed now.

welcome my friend to the pains that never end. I love my truck but, after a certain factory recall that reflashed my Computer, i have had poor performance, serious turbo lag, i am on my second turbo, 5th EGR valve, second Exhaust back pressure sensor, and a second EBP tube cleaning. I am losing faith in the 6.0, i even get smart remarks from the service techs that have to work on my truck. They complain about it each and everytime i go in. all i can say is that maybe just one day i will get a competent tech to do the job right. I know how to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and i am hear to tell you that i dont think these tech know their a$$e$ from a hole in the ground. I have been an aircraft technician for almost 7 yrs now so i think i know how to troubleshoot, i maintained an F-16 FIghter jet better than these guys maintain my truck, and it is out pulling 9 g's all the time, I am just driving down the road. I suggest going to different dealerships if possible to see who has the most reputable techs. Better techs = better maintenance.

For what it's worth, my cel has come on three times since mine was reflashed due to a recall. It had 14,000 trouble-free miles before that and now 2000 miles later has been in the shop 3 times. They changed a valve or relay the first time, but could find no problems the last two. The code was for low turbo boost, but it has never missed, sputtered, smoked or shown any kind of a problem. My guess is the reflash is the problem and is causing codes where there is really no problem..Hope this helps..Bob <><

Don't know the number, but all three times the tech(two different shops) said low turbo boost..Also, it has only happened when towing. The tech basically told me to just drive it and eventually the cel would either go off after so many key cycles, or I could bring it back again. So far, the light has stayed off for a while, but haven't towed either...Bob <><

doin good!

Still no light! I took the truck in on monday and they reflashed it and then drove a 1/4 tank of fuel off it. The service guy said they were having problems with this new flash staying loaded. I guess it falls back to a default. I have noticed with the flash loaded the shifting is tighter. It wouldnt suprise me if it was showing the low turbo boost code. I wonder if they replaced a good turbo because the flash was dropping?

who knows. Hopefully it works out good, and hopefully it keeps the reflash.
