thats exactly how mine is, i love it, it confueses the crap out of people and is good for taking off quick, mine takes off like a bat out of hell and chirps 2nd gear when im in 2low.
thanks for the input everybody, I appreciate it. Oh yes, I CAN tell the difference between a 203 and 205, but no offence taken
So on a side note, Why is everybody so against np203s? I mean I know all the problems that are associated with them but with a part time kit I like the ease of 2 low, I know the 205 (which I do have in my truck) is tougher, lighter, can take more horses, you can twin stick it, and all that, but if I did have an np203 in my truck I cirtainly wouldn't go to all the trouble to swap it out unless it broke. just my .02
Oh, one more thing, wouldn't it be easier to do the 203 205 doubler to a truck that started with a 203?
No one likes the NP203s, because they are chain driven, and like you said, they can't handle the big power, b/c the chain is the weak point. So basically Ivan, and monsterbaby couldn't use it in there trucks, but for me it works fine.
With stock or mild set up a chain can easily last 200K miles. I wanted to swap from 203 to 205 a while back, but after looking into it more, that would of cost a ***** load and needed some nice fabrication.
2 low is somthing I always though was nice to have, but I very seldomly use it.
2 low is easy, don't lock in the hubs. or just slip the t-case shifter forqard just a hair and it goes into low range before it locks into 4wd... for those of us with 205's anyway...
wouldn't it be easier to do the 203 205 doubler to a truck that started with a 203?
other than the adapter a doubler looks just like a 203, but with any truck it really comes down to having the right tranny/Tcase adapter and the right length driveshafts with proper pinion angle.......the reason i replaced the 203 in my truck is because the chain slips violently under heavy load, this was due to the truck being driven in lock for 7 years or more because the PO thought it was normal for a fulltime 4x4...i didnt learn about how to use the Tcase for a year after i got the truck...so for now im gonna just twinstick the 205 and save for the adapter, then ill have a triple stick!!
