Need help please!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me where exactly to look for the vehicle speed sensor so that I can replace it? I have a '98 Explorer. Chilton says on the right side, about halfway down on the transmission. Haines shows a picture but I had that picture with me under the truck and still did not see it. I'm not blind but this is driving me nuts! I do not want to spend $80 in labor to replace a $20 part. If anyone could help me with a detailed location and/or attach a picture I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

I suspect it's near the end of the tailshaft, and has wire(s) running to it.
If you had a wiring diagram you could verify by the wire colors.

my 97 wiring diagram shows that it should be attached to the transmission near the output on the top of the unit. It shows a pink/orange and a grey/black set of wires going to it.

I know there is a speed sensor on the rear end on my 98 I am not sure if this is the speedo sensor or not.
