well folks, I finally have some results. I changed the Cam Position Sensor and it still would not start. I borrowed an awesome Snap On scanner (code reader) from someone I know, I just plugged it in and entered some VIN characters, now the bad news......the code that is coming up is:
P0605 - Inter. Cntr Module Rom Error -
This doesn't look good. Does anyone know If there is a way to test the Module, I called the dealer and they said they cannot test it, they need the truck there, but there's no way I'm gonna put it in their hands.......yet.
I changed the two relays under the hood associated with the PCM..still nothing.
Does anyone have any idea's ??????
No, I don't have a chip, I might have someone willing to swap a ECM out of a powerstroke bus so I can try it. Then I'll be able to look for one in a salvage yard or something like that.
would my gauges be moving while cranking if my computer was bad (oil pressure, fuel and Tach), or are they not controlled by the computer ????? anyone
C'mon guys, what if it isn't the PCM? I know what the reader said, but what if. The guy now has a tuned PCM in a truck that does not run.
My suggestion is find someone with another 7.3 and see if you can put your puter in his rig to see if it is dead, not vice versa for obvious reasons. Take it from there.
Also, before doing any of the above, disconnect batts, pull out PCM plug and PCM, inspect pins and plug, then reinstall and try. Total cost=$0.0 except 20 minutes. At least you'll feel better about buying another PCM.
I will definately try doing that Tenn01PS, I would hope something simple like that could be the problem. thanks
but if I end up needing a PCM what's that DP- Tuner and who the heck is Jody.
that deal sounds awesome, are they new or used, and what options would I have for it to be tuned.

And probably the best tuner according to many posts here. I have his 60HP Tow tune and it runs like a raped ape.
I've been leaning towards a reprogramed PCM and am trying to decide on the 60 or 80hp tune. DO you tow with your rig and how are the egt's with the 60hp tune. Thanks.

I tow a 8000# Toy Hauler with 2 ATVs in it and it is fine. EGTs are about 800 for curising at 75. I doubt Jody will give you a 80HP Tune since with the mods I have he was afraid it would get too hot.
sounds awesome, I checked the site, so this takes the place of my PCM or do you just get a chip that you have to change and use your old shell ????
I didn't understand if this was in addition to a PCM.
thanks

DP-Tuner will take your PCM and reflash it for you or send you a PCM that is flashed and you send your old one to them. Or you can keep your old PCM but that costs more.
See, there's the rub with the reflashed PCM. Now you are stuck with what ya got. A flip or switchable chip is the way to go in my opinion. Still have the stock option there, but can just crank as you go. Whether DP or TS or whoever, you can always crank back to stock or pull it out and be at a stock setting. JMO

It depends. If you are worried about the warranty and you only need one setting, you can keep the stock PCM and if you blow the engine you can get service by using the original PCM.
In my case, the vehicle would be a tow vehicle or loaded with newspapers. I wasn't going that far with my mods so I decided that a 60HP Tow tune would be all I most likely used. Now, if I had use for the other tunes, I would have got a SCT2 or flip chip
