out 01 Expy has 75K miles, and over the weekend, it seems like it is losing power when shifting into 2nd gear. It just slows down a bit what could this be?
Start with the obvious stuff first: air filter, fuel filter, bad gas. You might want to run some seafoam through the intake and some in the tank to see if it improves. After that you start getting into more complicated issues like MAF and O2 sensor problems.
My '01 suffered from power problems in the summer months...when there's not enough cool air circulating in the engine bay you will loose power. Right around 75K I did a tune up with new filters all around and seafoam and it recouped quite a bit of power.
My 01 with the 4.6 does the same thing in hot weather, when the engine is cold it runs GREAT, but once I am driving home from work (1 hour drive) in the Texas heat it runs like 1/2 of the horse power is missing.
I have only had mine for about 2 months now but will soon be exploring what the problem may be. In my case it feels like maybe the Cat's might be clogged, but I will be changing out the fuel filter and see if that helps esspecially since changing out the air filter didnt help.
Edit: My Expy only has 50k miles

I bought my '01 new and the Texas heat deprived it of power from mile 1! These cars are heavy breathers so they run much better in cold dense air. I bought a K&N FIPK thinking it would help...nope. Actually made the problem worse during the Houston summer. It was great in the winter though. Other than that it was a good car. It turned 100K a couple of weeks ago so I traded it in on a '06 Expy.
