That is terrible at any rate.

My daily-driver is parked outside, I refuse to upgrade the crappy factory radio for just this reason. Some people = teh sux.
I would confirm that your 1997 Expy actually has an alarm. My 1999 did not, just a panic button on the key fob that triggered the horn when pressed. Definitely was not an alarm.

If I've got a window down, and the doors are locked...reaching in and opening a door sounds the alarm.

Or if you hit the lock button while sitting inside, then open a door, it also sounds.

I do have a few options like the tow package and likely something else, so perhaps the alarm came as part of one of the packages. (It's been a long time since I bought the truck)

I agree with the OP...totally would expect a vehicle such as these to have a factory alarm as standard equipment.

That makes me think twice about keeping Geico. My father has been with Farmers Insurance of Texas for over 8 years and when his automobiles have been broken into they have always taken care of him. Even when they claim some things were not covered.

I have Farmers for car insurance. I was told they do not cover aftermarket stuff unless you contact them and have it listed specifically in the policy. I have never tried to file a claim so I don't know if they would listen to circumstances and then make a judgement call after that or if it would be just plain "NO"

Either way it sucks.

I have nationwide insurance, never once did i report my stereo being in the car. On thanksgiving 2005, someone came into my garage and took my alpine cd player, 3 jl audio subs and a jl audio amp. called the police to get a report on file....they aint gonna find it....called my agent with the police report #, took my vehicle in so they could "validate that i had a stereo" and they did, 2 weeks later they full system was at my door.....geico saves u money yes but ur an example why, nationwide costs a little more but they take care of u .

Get an attorney. Insurance companies routinely deny most claims initially with the idea that most people will just go away & live with getting screwed & re-screwed. Unfortunately, in our society today, most people will do exactly that. We're all so stressed out that our BS/stress meters are on "full" and we just don't have the energy to fight the bureaucracy. When faced with litigation, insurance companies will often, after months of delay, and at the last minute before a court appearance, finally pay the claim, or at least make a settlement offer.

I know it's more aggravation, but get mad & fight the *******s. Don't be the spinless victim that they count on you being.
