today i went out, and thought it would be an easy task to connect the brown parking light wire to the white/black tracer wire on my headlight switch plug to run both the fogs and parking lights together.
let me start out by saying i have the switch in my truck that enables you to have parking lights and fogs on. in normal operation, you can pull it out in parking light mode, and the amber light will come on. just the fog lights will not come on. pulled the switch out, and checked the plug. there is a smaller brown wire, but NO white/black one!
i looked at the back of my plug where all of the wires went into the plug, and here is what i have:
position 1-none 2- red/ black tracer 3- none 4- none 5- yellow(solid) 6- small black
7- blue/white 8- blue/orange 9- red/yellow 10- lt. brown/white 11- none 12- small brown
i currently have the one end of the connector on the solid small brown wire (12) and the other end is what i need help on. i have tapped it into every wire in the harness and it's not working. the colors are not the same, so if someone can post a picture with it, or tell me what two wires (relation to position) that you tapped into, that would be great
Q: How do I modify my fog lights to: 1. Keep fogs on with brights? 2. Use the fogs when only the parking lights are on? (newer trucks are equipped with that feature)

Welcome to FTE TheHouse, and thanks for the links. however i clicked on the three you gave me, it took me to the homepage of FTE, the index. i went to the FAQ link, and clicked on the three again, and still took me to the index. does anyone know what chain of pages to follow to get where those take me? what is the DCforum?
Thanks for the effort with the posts from the FAQ. It looks like that needs some updating as those links are no longer valid... I'll take that up with the necessary folks and see if we can do something about those links.
Why, thank you very much Mr. New moderator. i think i found which wire i needed, large red with yellow trace. i will be going out soon to go try it, thanks again!
well, back with the results. the brown wire in position 12 and the fat red wire with yellow tracer on position 9 will not work on my truck. i even jumped the small brown wire from position 6 on the DIMMER switch plug to the red/yellow wire and it did not accomplish what i wanted. now all i have is more pierced wires...
anyone got the wire position numbers for me, since the colors obviously do not work?

Sorry that didn't work out for you, Kris.
Did you check out Steve Racer's website and his method? Not sure if it's the same thing as what you tried already.
Too bad our older trucks don't have these newer features. Shux, my truck doesn't even have fog (driving ) lights.
i don't want to do the SteveRacer mod, as i have the Upgraded Light harness from Summit, which enables me to run a diode in the extra headlight plug to run high beams with the low beams, and fog lights too. i am good in that section, i just would like to know what wire to tap into. i guess i will have to use the MultiMeter at school.....
I've read your question twice over the last few days and what throws me is my '02 came that way from the factory. Turn the parking lights on, pull out the switch, and park and fog are on. I had to run a jumper wire to keep the fogs on with the brights but fogs with parking and dims came from the factory. Maybe something is wrong with your switch.
