Are the regular cab trucks just for old people? All of the regular cabs around here belong to old people or plow guys. I think im the only one under 45 that owns one.
Got what I wanted, and you're right, it doesn't fit! I suppose we old folks have an image of what a truck is supposed to look like, and the regular cab is it....
Probably see many regular cabs in use for plowing because they're shorter (better turning radius) and offer better visibility (don't have to look so far back, don't have the back of the cab or more pillars to look past).
I prefer a crew cab because I'll often drive family or friends around, and can fit 6 adults in comfort. Also, I like to load things in the back seat that I wouldn't want to put in the bed, and this way I can still have a couple empty seats up front, where in a regular cab it'd just be me and the stuff.
I do find a regular cab to be a handsome configuration, though.
I'm 27, i have a regular cab. I do like the look better, and I wanted an 8ft bed. The truck is just too long when it has an 8ft bes and an extended cab, let alone a crew cab longbed.
I originally wanted to order a regular cab,but I opted for a supercab. My 94 f150 was a supercab,& i didn't really use the space that much. Then again I didn't have a 7 year old then either. So i'm hoping there will be enough room for her in the cab, when it comes in.But I shure do like the looks of the regular cab.
Everybody drives a Crew or Extended....since I'm the only one in the truck 99.95 percent and old skool, a reg cab it is. My dealer sold 3 reg cabs in last 5 yrs up to 04 and was going to drop keeping any on the lot, but at the end of 05 he had sold 12...so it must be a come back for the single cab.
Maybe the younger generation is discovering something new that us old fuddy duds have known all along......
In July 2002 I was able to finally buy my first new vehicle in cash and decided on an F350 superduty. After having trucks my whole adult life, I wanted a regular cab, as that was what Ive always had. My garage isnt long enough for anything larger, plus the fact that 95% of the time I use it for work and am alone. If I want to take the wife and kids out, well use a car. I was scared away of the diesels at the time because of the bad reputation that chevy gave them from the late 70s when they modified an olds engine to a diesel plus the fact I had gas vehicles my whole life.
After much research, the dodge regular cabs were very uncomfortable for me (Im 6'4" 250 lbs. ) to even sit in for a few minutes. The chevys had a very cheapo plastic/pleather interior and the box seemed smaller than both ford and dodges.
After overloading all the other trucks I had too many times, I wanted a 1 ton to finally fill the needs , however few and far between those times are.
Chevy only offered a 2500 (3/4 ton) or a 2500hd, so their loss.
Sitting in a F350 superduty regular cab fit me very well and was quite comfortable. My goal was loaded to the hilt, but unfortunately the dim wits in ford marketing came up with the brilliant idea that nobody wants a regular cab loaded like a hd or a king ranch or a lariet, so why offer one even when all the parts are there and fit anyways. The best I could do with those simple requirements was a loaded F350 4x4 xlt with the V10, but wait..........nobody stocks such a beast normally. After trips through the city and surrounding areas visiting all the ford dealers , there was only 1 dealer friendly to me and interested in possibly making the sale. All the other dealers were total jerks. The one that was friendly had almost what I wanted, but wait, here is the truck of my dreams on the lot, but it was a V8 with 4.30 gears , and I almost bought it. But wait......look at the sticker.....sticker has a hitch, and the f350 size tires with aluminum rims , and a cd6 radio. Wait,.... truck has no hitch, but wiring is there, an am fm cassette /cd, and the tires are 235 size blackwalls and truck has hubcaps and steel rims. I bring it up to the dealer to fix it right and ill buy it, but alas more problems.
They call me back after talking to the zone reps, and end up shipping the truck back to the truck plant in Kentucky to fix. So, they try to locate another one, since the rebates apply only to dealer stock at the time. The dealer trys big time to locate a similar truck for me, and out of 12 states nearbye, only 2 possibles are located in dealer stock . I looked at the specs on the 2 and the closer one fit my requirements the best. The dealer calls up the other dealer, and they swap vehicles, and pay someone with a trailer to drive there and swap them, trailering my truck back. I went to the dealer to finish the sale, and the truck was just about everything I really wanted. It was beautiful. 2 weeks after the sale, the dealer manager calls me up, and says the zone rep is looking for a satisfied ford truck customer to interview for an in house ford video. I agree and he sets up a meet. I drive to the dealer and suprise suprise, they want to load my truck up with about $2000 in OEM ford accessories so it looks better in the video. Ford is paying the bill, all I have to do is be videotaped and say Ford trucks are the greatest, and I wouldnt have bought anything else. So I agree and in about 2 hours the dealer mechanics pimp my truck out the oem ford way. Several takes and a few hours later, Im home with the truck and the interview is all done. Dont know if the video was ever used, or cut, but who cares... They finally made me a happy Ford buyer. Bill

I have only owned regular cab trucks so far. When I bought my '05 that is what I wanted. They do seem to be getting more rare all the time, but I think that is partially due do the manufacturers pushing extended cabs and crew cabs. I wish Ford hadn't dropped the Lariat package on regular cab trucks. I believe it is however available in regular cab F350-F550 chassis cab trucks. I disagree that regular cabs are just work trucks. Some people including myself like the look of a regular cab better.
