i have a 2005 f-250 crew cab, 11,000 miles,added k&n air filter, after doing so noticed loud noise coming from turbo charger, this seems to occur when iam hard on accelator, then off accelator rapidly, some people have told me that this due too varable geomerty turbo, can anyone explain.???????????
Your K&N filter setup probably allows you to hear more turbo noise than the stock filter.
When you are at high engine load your boost pressure is somewhere around 25 psig. When you back off the throttle the tubo vanes change position to give you 0 psig boost. The excess pressure is vented back through the intake and you are hearing that 25 to 0 psig pressure drop.
