I bought a 351W engine for parts. The bottom end blown. I only wanted the heads, but they are mis-matched as far as I can tell. I only gave $25 for the engine.
One is a D70E head, and the other is a D80E head. One a 77, one a 78. Does anyone know where to tell me to find what they came off of, and if they will work as is?
Thanks. I did see that, but I didnt see in the chart where it said what the heads came off of, or if the heads would work as mis-matched set of heads on a 302 engine.
It won't tell you what they came off of only the year they were made . They don't make specific heads for cars and trucks in general. They are down near the bottom. The valves are the same size and the same size combustion chamber. They will work but they have a pretty big chamber at 69cc.

I was wanting to compare these with a 302 to know if they were on a 2bbl or 4bbl engine for flow reasons. That is why I was wanting to know what they came off of. I found that they might be off a 70's mid size car, or a 60's Torino, Falcon, Fairlane, etc.
I was told that they have bigger chambers (flow)than the 302, and that it may up my compression ration also, which is fine, but I dont want to be guessingat it.

That's all you can tell in the windsor family. They don't do different heads for 2v or 4v in those years.

The size of the chamber has almost nothing to to with the flow of the heads. Bigger chamber =lower compression ratio. Plus if you want them to work on a 302 you need to get stepped washers for them. Personally I'd keep looking for some better stock heads to work with.
D7OE and D8OE are the same heads with different casting numbers. The "O" in the casting number has nothing to do with identifying what vehicle they came from. It simply means they were originally designed for mid size Ford cars. That said, they could have been installed on any vehicle application using a 302 or 351W motor. They're really good door stops or boat anchors compared to any other Ford Small block head. Only ones worse were the early 80's 255 heads.
