could anyone tell me how to change my brakes please? the back breaks i can do myself but i'm not sure if they are shoe or pad. i don't want to have to take off the tire to look until i'm actually fixing it. the front has disc and those i know i will not be able to do. i need brakes BAD so any and all help would be greatly appriciated. and please don't be rude.
A little more info please. The type of vehicle would be of help. I would suggest buying a manual for whatever it is you have. If not that, at least a trip to the book store and read one there. Most libraries have reference books you could check also. Good luck.
Like Holland said, your best bet is a manual.Fronts are almost always easier than the rear (if you have rear drums).I would suggest pulling atleast 1 front/1 rear wheel to see what the condition of the linings are.Let us know what your working on and what the symptoms are.
If you have a grinding metal on metal sound instead of just squealing, you most likely need rotors and maybe drums. You can either buy a Haynes repair manual and learn how to do it yourself or take it to a dealer or repair shop. Rotors are not a big deal on most Ford trucks.
