Couple ?'s
Second, my tranny isn't shifting properly it is a c-6. It doesn't want to shift out of first gear but once I hit about 45-50mph it sometimes shifts. (I usualy get off the gas at that speed so I don't kill the engine) It doesn't matter how much gas I'm giving it. I checked the fluid it was about 2 quarts low (stupid previous owner).
Your describing a classic lean idle situation. Your throttle flaps are adjusted too far open and your idle mixture is too lean. First, screw your idle mixture screws in all the way with your fingers only, not a screwdriver. Then bacK each one out 1-1/2 turns. Start your motor. Now adjust the throttle flap to get the idle where you want it. If your problem persist open both screws at 1/4 turn increments together. Readjust the throttle flap to get an ideal idle. Some idle screws have been tightened with screwdrivers and have mushroomed ends, they cannot be adjusted correctly and need new screws.
Secondly, inspect the vacuum line to the transmission vacuum modulator, as the vacuum lines get soaked in oil they collapse and can cause tranny shift delay. A clogged valve body can cause the same symptom and will require service by a technician. A busted band can do the same thing. If you pull the shifter down into first gear and cannot get it back into park, you've got a bad band. You've also got a mess on your hands. You'll need a pro or a felon to fix it. The two words are synonomous in the transmission repair business.

One more quick question where is the water temp sensor? The reason I ask is because my temp guage is not working. Do any of you have a way to test the guage or the sender. Thanks again.
You didn't say what engine you have.
The sending unit is usually up front on the intake manifold near the thermostat housing. It's Brass.
Now,Disconnect the wire from the sender and take a screwdriver or something metal and push it in the connector and touch it to ground.
Then go to the cab ans for a verty brief time turn the Key on.
If the needle on the gauge Pegs itself to the right, the Gauge WORKS.If it doesn't Guess what ?
The problem is the wiring or the gauge.
Make sure the the Threads on the temperature sending
unit are NOT wrapped with teflon tape as this restricts the signal to
ground and cause a false reading.
They make a special sealant for sending units because of this.
