Won't charge
I just bought a 1978 Bronco, but I am having problems with getting the altenator to charge. I have a consistent 12.4 volts so when I use any accessories my battery will die. The altenator tested good a 3 parts stores and I also tried several different voltage regulators. But no luck. Also i trace every wire and they all look good and I checked voltage on every wire. this is the interesting part--- there was only like .33 volts at both the stator wire and the field wire. I also have a 1978 F150 so I checked the voltage on the stator and field wire on it and they were both around (i think) 10 volts, but don't remember exactly. Any advice would be much appreciated. thanks
Also make sure the regulator and alternator have a good ground.
Do you have a light or a gauge?

12 volts on the "A" terminal of the regulator at all times.
12 volts on the "S" terminal of the regulator if you have the key in run, and you have a factory ammeter in the dash.
12 volts on the alternator output wire with the engine not running.
Do some of these checks and see what you have.
