crate motor
I am lookin in on buying a crate motor for my 76 ford and i was wondering what would be the best place to get one...thinkin along the line of a 514 stroker with around 500-600 hp. So far I looked at the Ford racing 514 with 625hp but a little bit worried about the aluminum heads on it. It only takes one time to run a little hot and $8,000 gone

It takes a lot more heat to hurt alum heads than people think, I got my race engine over 230 a couple of times last year, several infact. And yes they were are little warped but .005 cleaned them up I had them milled .010 just because I was looking for just a little more compression, basically if you keep them under 220 you will never have a problem with them so I wouldn't be scared of alum heads. Besides almost all the new vehicles out anymore have alum heads and you don't here of a lot of problems with them, so why not have them on your older vehicle too.
