I've been lurking a coupla' weeks, getting info to finalize my decision to get a Ford diesel. Been reading for a coupla' years, gathering info on what kind of vehicle I wanted to retire with. My dream is to stick a M/C in the bed, hook on a trailer [30' or so] and, leisurely wander around as much of North America as I can before death or disability. Of course, my wife will be my govenor, as to how much of the time we spend on the road at a time. She's not as loosely tied to "permanance" [in the guise of house and hearth] as I. Since, much of the time, her caution works out for the best, I'll lean toward whatever she wants, as long as it's near what I want! ha! Yesterday, I bought a '90 Ford F250; E40D tranny [with the upgrades installed]; 355 rear end; XLT trim; extended cab; long bed; 7.3 International, non-turbo with 154,000 miles on the clock for $2000. I'm getting the tranny serviced Monday; Tuesday or Wed, cooling system and A/C...sometime down the road, replace the bench seat with the nice seats. I've got 2.5 years till retirement to get it up to speed. I've already gotten a lot of very useful info from y'all, for which I am greatly appreciative. From my readings, I firmly believe this truck is the best for what I want to do and will give my the most bang for my buck. I'm not really poor, but, it seems like it most of the time, so, I economize every chance I get, not to the point that I do or have done half -asst work.
