i have a clunking or knocking noise coming from both front wheel wells when my truck makes sharp turns, dips in the road, and large bumps. I can feel it in the floorboards. Any ideas? 2000 ranger supercab, 4 x 2, only 38,000 miles on it. Thanks.
By the way, I can rock the truck back and forth to make the same noise.

I too have this problem but it only happens about once every 3-6 months or so. My Ranger is a 4X2 with 65,000 miles. I have checked the wheels bearings and suspension and all seems tight. I will let you know if I ever find the cause....
I don't know, maybe worn shocks or the rubber shock mounts, or maybe worn sway bar bushings.
You might lift each wheel such that the vehicle's weight is off it & check things like wheel bearing play, lug nut torque & looseness or play in the various suspension parts, like the ball joints, "A" arms, spring mounts, ect.
I wouldn't ignore this, your trucks is complaining about something not being right.
Yep, you are right. An unusual noise should not be ignored as it can turn into a bigger problem. I usually don't ignore sounds like this but for some reason I decided to live with it until I read this post. I know better... I think a good next step is to jack up the front end and start to wiggle some wheels and other suspension components.
