Question Why did Ford do this?

I've got a beef with the Ford engineers that designed the dash panel of our Super Dutys. I've done this many times and wondered if any of you have done the same?.....have any of you "mistakenly" reached for the fan control **** and instead, turned the 4 wheel drive engage ****? I can't believe they put them so close together and use the same size and shape of ****. How about it, anyone going to "fess" up to doing this also?

How could anyone be so stupid to turn the four wheel drive **** instead of the fan speed control ****, that is the question I ask myself everytime I turn the wrong ****. Yes I have done it several times over the past 7 years. Ford had a better idea, just didn't use it here.

That is the Better Idea. The switch is ESOF switch (Electronic Shift On the Fly)

Your senses are sharper at 16 that at my age. Your mind is too. Plus, I bought my truck when you were 10 1/2 yrs old so I have had more time to turn my ****.

I'm Guilty Too.
Did It At 65 Mph At 5:30 In The Morning.
Heard The Hubs Lock In And Switched It Back Quickly.
No Damage Was Done Thank God.
I Now Have Warn Manual Hubs So If I Do It Again ... Only The Transfer Case Will Switch Over.

Hope Not To Ever Do It Again At That Speed.

So THAT's what that blank spot next to the heater controls is for.
Here I was thinking that Ford put that there for one of DP-tuner's control switches!

I have the lever so this is not an issue fro me but I did something much worse once.....At around 4 in the morning on the way to work confused my C6 shift lever with the three on the tree in my previous truck, slapped it in tp park at aroung 10MPh. Luckelt the road was wet and there was no traffic so no damage was done.
