Brake light wiring question
68 F250 4x2 (guessing base model). Manual steering power drums all around.
I don't know what tranny I have but its a 4 speed on the floor and reverse is far right and up (where 5th would be on a 5 speed car). Granny 1st.
My backup lights do not work. Is the reverse sensor on the top of the tranny or on the side somewhere or inside? Any thoughts on where should I look? also the shifter is real loose. I have to hunt for gears sometimes and when in gear there is lots of slop. I can also hold the shift **** and spin the entire lever clockwise or counter clockwise quite a bit, maybe a 1/4(or a bit more) turn from one stop to the other.
Sorry for so many questions but this is a daily driver and I need to get it on the road ASAP. Normally I would just look things over and if it took me a moth so de it, but I actaully need this truck working.
Thank you
I suppose the back up switch screws in. SHould be a small terminal screwed into the side or top of tranny with two wires attached. If wires are there and still doesn't work, then maybe blown fuse? If wires are gone, then you'll need to hunt them down to get it working. Are bulbs ok?(I assume you already checked those). Should be able to test switch with ohm meter and someone working shifter to see if switch functions.
Haven't looked too deep into the shifter slop yet. Once its on the road I'm gona go see my cousin who owns a tranny shop.
