I took 2600Lbs of roof supplies and the truck did not even feel stressed. I bet if I had room I could take 2 ton without fear.

Hey Guys, How Hard Do You Push Your Psd's. I Got A 06 With 2k Miles On It And Pulled My Toy Hauler Over Pacheco Pass In Central Ca And Could Only Do 40 Mph At 2500 Rpm And Was Afraid To Push Harder Because My 04 Started Blowing The Turbo Hose Off At 2700 Rpm Under Same Load. Pulls Great On Flatland Though. I'm Pulling Only About 9000 Lbs. Any Advice.
I routinely pull a 32' whaler on a triple axle trailer. Total weight of tow is 13,500 #. I have put 3400# in the bed without any problem. '05 F250 with a leveling kit and F350 rear blocks and springs. But Boy does the mileage drop when I hook up the boat
How about 40 bags of 80lb Sakrete Mix in the back of my '04 F350 SRW.
(I wore the guys at the Lowes store out putting them in.)
Truck never even grunted. Went down the interstate at 70 MPH for fifteen miles.
One guy at Lowes said "You can't put that much in a pickup truck".
I told him: "You start loading, and let me worry about that, if gets to be too much, I'll let you know when to stop loading. If necessary, I'll be back for the rest of it."
Twenty miles later, I backed up along side of my Nephews new Chevy 2500 HD to unload. He had not much of anything to say. (Seems as if "the cat got his tounge.) But he went to work unloading the bags anyway. I thank him for that!
I too was concerned about carrying too much weight. I have a 4x4 F250 6.0l diesel supercap, with a shell on it. The label on the driver side says GVWR of 8800 lbs. You can read all about GVWR and towing capacity in the owner's manual, but basically GVWR is maximum weight rating of truck and load. I had the truck weighed (with me in it), and the scale said 7820 lbs. So this means I can only carry a load of 980 lbs. Further, if I have 6 passengers, average weight of 200 lbs (and no cargo in the bed), I am over the GVWR. I called the dealer that sold the truck and asked why their 6-passenger truck was not meant to hold 6 men, let alone carry any cargo. Their response was "you should have told us and we would have sold you a bigger truck!"
A response from a dealer like that makes me want to start a thread about the intelligence level of a dealer vs. a superduty truck. I'm pretty sure the superduty would win.
So what is your question? You are correct, your max is 8800 lbs. You should have bought a truck with a higher GVWR. 8800 is fairly low, in fact, I have never seen one that low. Usually, they start around 9400. Most people with a 3/4 ton that run a business with it like to keep it under 10K for DOT lettering reasons. Mine is rated at 11400 lbs, the highest I could get. Bottom line is don't worry about it. You can safely exceed that rating until your springs bottom out on the overload, in my opinion. There is some cushion in there, I believe. I have done it many times in many different trucks.
Of course, don't go through any scales, but if your truck is for your personal use, you won't be anyway.
I have put over 2ton of stone in my 2006 s/c long bed but only went 10 miles to the house but I usally only have him put 1.5 ton in it.and put whole pallet of 80lb sac crete drove it 20 miles to home it did fine.P.S. I dont use it that hard alot but it has always risen to the job.

i have put about 5000lbs worth of roof comp in the bed and hauled it about 100 miles. it squated the truck a little, but was otherwise ok.
Sorry, I didn't mean to cause confusion, and really didn't have a question . . . just thought I'd share a story that really got my goat.
My concern was for a drive from Kansas to Arizona, carrying 4 passengers plus the bed loaded with limestone posts (probably 2000 lbs themselves) and more cargo on top of them. I aired the tires to the max, and made the trip with no problem!
BTW, had I had access in KS to internet, I would have been very happy to find this thread, as it provides some very good first-hand experiences on the capability of these trucks.
