Buying a Ranger

Hey everyone, my freind is selling a preowned 97' Ford Ranger EX Cab 2wd 5 speed on the floor. ive riddin in the truck many times and driven it once (learning how to drive stick, lol). hes selling it for $5k. is thisa good deal for a 97? any ideas would be great, thanks in advance
