Another option--check into the BedRug--this is a foam liner that can be taken out if you want to. If you really want to save the look of your bed for THE NEXT OWNER, use a spray-in liner, then put the BedRug over it.
I have had 1) a drop in (not again) 2) BedRug 3) spray-ins. The BedRug is kind of unique--it will wash clean with a hose, is soft to the feel, and stuff will slide if pushed, but not on its own. I currently have a Rhino spray-in and have had no problems.

I really like that idea of the bedrug/spray-in combo. I think I'll have to look into that.
I have a drop-in liner in my 97 F-150, and a line-x spray in liner in my 06 F-250. The drop in worked well until one of the ribs on the floor was cut, which now allows water underneath. I am considering taking it out all together. Otherwise, it worked well for the last five years I've had the truck. The spray in has also worked well. And, if it gets scraped off, Line-x will respray the spot for free.
Definitely Rhino for me. I'm on my third truck with it....first two had Rhino for 5yrs with absolutely no wear. I carry a lot of drums, 5gal pails, caustics, acids, logs, etc. and have never had anything affect it. Don't like the texture of the Linex. Different strokes for different folks. I've hit mine with an axe, claw hammer, etc. and it bounces off. Without having had a Linex, I'd say the Rhino is advantageous if you want stuff to NEVER slide. Like the guy who mentioned needing to slide out firewood.....the Rhino would have a disadvantage.
Having been down a couple of these roads, here's my two cents...
Drop-in pros
cheaper, by far
provides some bed protection
removeable
Drop-in cons
surface wear caused by liner shifting
can trap sand & fine dirt between bed & liner
can trap moisture between bed & liner...especially within dirt/sand deposits
all of the above leads to metal being exposed & surface rust forming
Spray-in pros
great bed protection
many offer a variety of colors to match your vehicle color(s) and/or personal tastes
most spray-in dealers will warrant "standard" colored liners for life
Spray-in cons
more expensive
essentially permanent
colored liners typically have a limited warranty
Between Rhino Lining & Line-X:
The Rhino was a softer compound, and helped keep some things from sliding around as much.
Line-X was a harder, more plastic-like compound, but it has its own unique texture which helps keep some things from sliding around.
The Rhino's smoother surface was more treacherous for footing when wet. So if you hop up into the box to load/unload stuff, this may be something to consider.
I had a drop-in in my first Ranger, Rhino lining in my second Ranger, and Line-X in my Dakota. Both Rangers were pretty much just daily drivers, but the Dakota saw some pretty varied use including hauling wood, doing some landscaping (cannot tell you how many loads of soil, flagstones, etc. that it carried....more than I care to EVER do again). Between the available choices, I will suffice it to say that my new Harley F-250 will be getting Line-Xed before the end of summer.
I had an oem ford drop in for 6 months and it rubbed the paint clean to the metal over both wheel wells. I now have a Rhino (wanted to check out Line-X but it cannot be gotten in NJ)
One other advantage to the spray in that no brought up is that the box will drain water if parked with the nose down.
Hey gang, not to get off of the subject of liners, but I'm getting a f250 with the chrome package & I was wondering if anyone has seen any descent chrome or chrome type mudflaps around, thanks.
Check this out...My local Line-X dealer gets these 'deacls' made that are actually foam. They resemble the white silloutte decals that everyone has on there windows. The foam has a thickness of aprox. 1/8". They applied the Ford oval, aprox 18'' long on the front of my bed before they sprayed. It leaves a nice 3-D logo on the bulkhead. Looks cool!

don't let the dealer do it. and have it sprayed with linex and if you can'y find that one rhino. both are spray on and the only way to fly.
linex is the best and rhino right behind. i have many a drop in and hated the rattles and rust that always formed under them.
good luck with your new ride man
