toyota recalls more than 565,000

It's only an issue of losing control of the vehicle while in motion. No big deal. Toyota's build quality is the best in this solar system. This is all a bunch ado about nothing. Besides Ford has had the largest recalls of any manufacturer. We can't talk about Toyota's because Ford hasn't been exactly stellar for the last 100 years.

You know, if you hear something often enough, whether it be true or not, you start to believe it. Every little miniscule recall by Ford or GM gets reported on the 6:00 news. How many recalls have there been by a foreign owned vehicle, major or minor, that happen but never get picked up by the news reporters? I'd say it's about time this gets reported and this probably only was reported because of the sheer number of the vehicles being recalled.

If you look in consumers reports a lot of Japanese car MODELS including SOME Toyotas are rated as poor buys in the used car market because of multiple problems. My brother buys the yearly guide and said there are some surprises in there. (I am looking for a used car for my son's girlfriend) Funny how these bad models and years never make the news. Overall they still are a little ahead on dependability but the gap is closing fast.

Well, here's my general opinion on recalls:
1. I dont like to see them because it means inferior products. In a thing that costs as much as a vehicle, we shouldn't be having as many problems as we do.
2. I do commend the manufacturers for coming forward with recalls and fixing problems. It's a lot better for everybody to do that than try and let it slide. The customers would be hurt by the safety issue, and the manufacturer could face lawsuits.
3. Every manufacturer has problems. Japanese, USA, all of 'em. It's the manufacturers that dont have recalls that I'd be concerned with. Either:
a. They make things good enough to not need recalls. (NOT!) or
b. They're trying to get out of it by not issuing a recall and hoping the issue goes away.
4. To say "haha look at those losers, they've got another recall!" is rediculous. See above.

Agreed cars today are complex machines made up of parts from all over the world. They may have several different vendors suppling the same part depending upon which plant and when the vehicle is produced. Take a closer look at your car or truck the next time you are working on it and look for lables on the parts stating country of manufacture. I have and counted about five different countries so far. Some how these guys put all this stuff together and get it to fit mostly. It's really amazing that they're vehicles out there that have never had a recall or TSB when you think about it.
