Start Button-48 F1

Any reason i can't use my push start button with a modern keyed ignition? Seems like it would be fairly easy to wire up. Surely the push button could handle 12 volts!

Am I missing something here?

Tim -

You are correct. No problem. The 6V button will only carry half the amps at 12V. I have a GM column (with a key) and use a start button anyway.

When I got my truck the ignition had the key broken off and the normal hot wires to twist togeather, then hit the button.
I grabbed a modern style switch and put it in for convience.
It was fun to watch people try to figure out how to start the truck, especially when I would make a big deal around the key while slipping the other hand over to the Button.

I'm using my original start button with a column mounted ignition switch, however, I'm not using it for a start button. I mounted it on the floor and wired it to a line lock solenoid for the brakes......

.....I couldn't resist, I had one years back in a drag car and thought it was alot of fun.

It should be easy to wire up do a news style ignition switch, go for it
