OK, I have spent the last 2 months doing everything I can to get ready for a long long trip with my Expy. I leave this Friday for Disney, 972 miles each way and I will be towing our 6000 lb camper.
I have changed the transmission fluid, Oil, Coolant flush, had a fuel system cleaner, checked tires etc.
Saturday afternoon I am running errands and I go to back into a parking spot. Put it in reverse and try to back up.... nothing, step on the gas a little, it goes, but its like pushing a house in reverse. I pulled into a different spot going forward. When I go to back out, I have to really hit the gas and it makes this loud high pitch sound. I drove about 20 miles from that place, all forward and drove it the remainder of the weekend with no more reverse problems...
So, Did my brakes stick? Something else? Should I be freaked about making this long trip?
I suspect something happened when the transmission fluid was changed. Better recheck things here. Make sure the fluid level is correct, and that the correct fluid was used. Was the filter changed also? I'd take it back to the person that did the work and have him recheck things.
Let us know what happens.
From your description I would guess it's a stuck parking brake. Trying to move the vehicle with the parking brake engaged, it seems to offer much more resistance in reverse than if you leave it on and try to move forward. You didn't mention any recent maintenance for the brakes, have you adjusted the parking brake lately?
