Jet product

I'm looking at a Jet Power Shift Transmission tuner for my E-350 V-10 with the 4R100 transmission.I don't really feel like spending $400 on a Superchip tuner as my main complaint is with the soft shifts of the tranny. This product costs $120 and I'm tempted to try it at that price. It gives you 4 different shift settings and doesn't require any physical changes to the tranny. It connects to the wire harness and appears to be removable if I had to for service through Ford.(I have almost 4 years left on Ext warranty)I can't find any feedback on this product online so if anyone has experience with this product I would appreciate any opinion you might have. Thanks

Personally, I think controlling line-pressure electronically is not a good as doing it mechanically, like a valve body or separator plate.

But that's just my two cents.
Many folks have great luck doing it electronically via a chip.

For what it's worth, I've got an Art Carr valve body, plus a lot of engine mods (inlcuding a blower so I'm really taxing my tranny) and a custom tune. My tuner didn't put any shifting changes into my tune.

I've got 130K miles, tow a 7,000+ lb. boat regularly through the desert, and have had zero issues. But I'm certain you'll find others who do it via a chip, with similar reliability.

Thanks for the reply.I just found out on a different thread that this Jet PowerShift product won't help in regard to my 4R100's reluctance to downshift which is my biggest issue with my drivetrain.I was surprised by this because I believe this product works by increasing fluid pressure to firm up shifting so I was hoping that would also make the transmission require less throttle pressure to cause downshift.Anyway I don't know too much about transmissions so I may have to reconsider and spend the $400 on a tuner.I'm going to continue finding out everything I can before making the purchase.

May I recommend you take a look at either a valve-body or a separator plate?

Here's one good place to look for info. There are also others...

Great site. They have a Kit for $225 that's specifically for my year 4R100 and it sounds like it would be better for the longevity of the tranny.I do have an Ext warranty with almost 4 years left on it and am unsure if this would void it.I'm not even sure Ford would open up the tranny if it had major failure.I think Ford usually just replaces bad units as they're not in the business of doing major transmission repairs. This kit is supposed to be relatively easy to install.I'm pretty mechanical but without a lift I'd probably need a shop to install something like this for me.I guess I could talk to a tranny shop or performance shop and see just how expensive it would be to have them do the work.I know a lot of places don't want to install parts supplied by the customer so that might be an issue that could make the cost prohibitive. While I'm not thrilled by the performance of the stock 4R100 I may have to live with it if a solution becomes too costly. Thanks for the response as I'm in the learning phase on this subject.

This may not apply to your trans, but I've found that I can get my 5-spd. Ranger to downshift by tapping the brake with my left foot....
