Unfrotunately, it was time to retire my F-150 with 193k miles on it. I had replaced the engine and now just about everything else was ready to give including the tranny, ball joints, and CV joints. So I traded it in for an '06 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner with the V6 and the 6-speed. I feel a bit bad for leaving the Ford family, but this F-150 kinda soured me to them. I can't thank you all enough for the advice I have recieved during my stay. I will stick around the boards for a while to help out those that I can.
At this time we would like to pause for a moment of silence................................... i would like to wish you the best of luck with your new truck sometimes its hard to make decisions like that i just wen with what i could afFORD
Take care matucino, maybe in the future you can come back to the dark side when that toyota starts to break down on you......he,he just kiddin! Btw, that is a slick lookin truck you have there, one thing about those toyota v6's is they are rock solid.
Hope you have more luck with your toyota that the ones i've been around. Nice looking truck though and if properly maintained should last as long as any other.
Well sorry for your loss but i guess life goes on hope you have better luck with the Toyota I have always loved those Toyota trucks i think there awesome especially yours
A week since driving it home and it is no longer stock. I transplanted the "heart" of my F-150's sound system into the Taco. And of course I'll stick around to pitch in. Although...someone is going to have to teach me how to throw better.
That is one "schhweeet" lookin' truck! Good luck with it. Your '99 F-150 treated you well? Did you have many problems with it since 1999? Since it was 7 years old and almost 200K you must have been happy with it.
Many people, including myself, are considering an import for reliability and MPG reasons. Would you let us know what kind of MPG your getting? My info,so far, seems to indicate that there is very little if any better MPG.
Please keep in touch as far as reliability. How it's doing at 100K,150K and 200K. Post pictures at 3, 5 and 7 years old. It will benefit all of us. Good luck with your truck!
I don't know, How could 193K out of a truck sour someone? Now if you only got 19K... -Seems strange. The 199K I got out of my last Explorer didn't sour me.
So far I'm seein 18/21 MPG which is about a 5-6 MPG increase from the F-150. Power wise I have no complaints. I'm pretty sure it's faster than my F-150, even when I had it running its best. I do still miss the Ford a bit though. Nothing like a full size 4X4 that says "Move or be run over."

Thanks for the update, Maticuno. A 30%+ gain in MPG is substantial, IMHO. Please keep us updated as time goes on. Best of luck with your new truck.
