Outside Door Handle Replacement
I have a 97 Explorer and I have a broken drivers door handle (outside). The handle is color matched and I finally found a replacement. The torsion springs on mine are broke so there is way too much travel to get the door to open reliably so I decided to replace it. Anyway, I have drilled out the rivets that hold the handle to the door and the assembly can be moved but I cannot figure out how to disconnect it from the latch rod (there is a white teflon connector that the rod goes through and then the rod does a 180). Anyone out there have any ideas? Also, I will most likely be removing the actuator assembly at the same time so I need to know how to disconnect the rod.
