Well, I've finally gotten through a lot of the 'tear down' on my '41, and I now have an accumulation of original 'Stuff' I wont be using. I have been really surprised at how easily this truck is coming apart. I haven't broken a single bolt yet (knocking on wood). The only damaged parts so far that will be unusable are the two perch bolts. I had to resort to the 'heat' wrench on those, and then beat them out, but everything else is in excellent re-usable condition. I'm keeping the front wishbone (it's already split), but things such as original front shocks, solid axle, original transverse spring, and later this week, the entire rear end including torque tube, rear wishbones, rear shocks, banjo rear end, housing, axles and rear transverse spring are all coming off and available if anyone needs any of this original hardware. I'll also have four 5 on 5 1/2 wheels with what looks like new widewhites available.
Please contact me if you're interested in any of this stuff before it hits EBay.
Hi Steve. Sounds like you're putting in modern running gear too. You're getting rid of the same stuff we got rid of.
Don't suppose you happen to have a spare glove box handle? We've been looking and none of the replicas are the same as the one that comes in the 41. We have one, but needs lots of TLC before re-chroming.
Actually rebuilding the Flathead Carlene, but bolting a C-4 automatic behind it. (I'm building the truck for my wife).
At this point I don't have the glove box handle you're looking for, however, I do recall seeing a glove box for sale on EBay this week, Dont know if it included a handle.
As for the color, it's not a bad color now, but if you tracked the link above to my web sight, you'll see it'll will end up Pearl White with Pink Steelies. My wife is a breast cancer survivor, and we decided on that color scheme for this build.
Good luck on your handle search, I've been through that, two years to find a locking key matched refinished outside door handle for my '34 Chebby.
