BigF350 - too bad you didn't make it to the OBC. I heard it was tough this year. Two teams from the US competed that I talk to all the time and get some parts from. They thought they were prepared....WRONG!!! They both finished and said it was truly an experience they will remember. They said the countryside (what they could see while flying around in their LR's) was unbelievable.
Both Jonathan and I would love to have Defenders but the prices are nuts here. People are asking over $20K US for a trail beaten one and over $40K US for street driven only ones!!! Crazy. I am glad to see that LR is still going to produce them even though we can't get them.
As to the Land Rover County and diesels we don't get either. There are few shops stateside that do LR diesel conversions. There is even one shop in new england that will do a TDI conversion to a D90 and turn it into a D110 for you if you want. They do nice work and it looks factory, but talk about pricey....
I just saw an immaculate red '97 D90 w/ under 17k original miles on ebay. Buy It Now price. . .$60,000USD. There was another one that was under $20k, but it had a list of parts that had just been replaced that makes you think that it may have been abused. Oh! And some rust.
