well i finally got the frontend lift done. started last night after work, and i got the old stuff out minus pitman arm. my uncle had a pitman arm puller (thank god), and i got it off successfully and got all the new stuff on. over the legal limit by .5" , which is 29" to bottom of front framerail. waiting on custom 7/8" ( u-bolts for the rear, the ones included in the 4" block kit were 3" too short to stack the blocks. thye should be coming tuesday... going to weld and gusset the blocks together now, here are some pics to hold you guys over.. this is at front ride height, with wheels on and jackstands out.
Will they actually give you a ticket for that 0.5"?
i dont know, but it gives them a good reason to pull me over, so you will find me going ALOT slower, much closer to the speedlimit. from 15 over to about 6 over.
thanks for the compliments. currently the second block is painted, and waiting to dry. the left side block is welded (with bubblegum ) and smoothed, painted and on the truck. the bottom of the rotor is about 8" from the ground, truck the same height as in the pics.... all i have to do is put the second block in place, put the shocks and carrier drop in, and them im ready to wait for the U bolts.
Looks great Kris. Looks like you have room for at least 35's or taller. Do you plan on bigger tires and what will that do to you ride height? Looking forward to seeing the rest of your pics.
well i got all done that i could. hung the rear shocks, dropped the carrier bearing, put the blocks in place, and actually jacked up the axle to the point where i could jiggle the jack stands. now i am supporting it by 6X6's on the hubs. so all i have to do is get them U-bolts and im ready to go.
the more i look at the "smallish" tires on the truck, the more i'm liking it. if i were to get 35's, the gear ratio would be too tall for my driving speeds (normally not over 55, mostly 40-50 to and from school. if i were to get 35's, i would probably want to go with 4.30's. my final rear end ratio with 33's is 3.56:1, and with 35's, i would have 3.35, which is WAY to low for me as of now. maybe plans will change with more power down the road
as of now with 33's, a 3.90 gear would put me back the same as stock and 31.5's, and 4.14 gears would put me back to stock if i were to go with 35's.
and another reason to not go higher is the fact that i am already OVER the legal limit. now all i have to do is see how many times i get stopped with the setup now before these tires wear out, it will be the deciding factor of new 33's on 18" rims (same as jtharvey) or the 35's. 35's would only make my ride height one inch higher.
Stacks, now that will give it an interesting look, especially against that pewter gray. They gotta be chrome. Just wondering, straight or bent ends though. I believe both would look great.
So do they actually measure from frame rail or bumber? In Idaho they measure bumper height, and actually most have done a reciever type basis as to be able to flip the so called bumper when off roading.
.....and got the rear done. those 7/8" rear u-bolts took some work to fit, but all is done, and it's sittin nice. all of the pics are uploaded, working on a gallery for the lift. check the pics out once post the link in my sig
