I have a 92 f150 2wd with 4.9. Truck has no A\C but I would like to add it. I would like to have it "factory." maybe salvage parts from another truck. Anyone ever do this? If so, what kind of problems were there, pointers, etc? Thanks
www.bought4less.com has the AC kit you need.
Firewall mounted evaporator core (like factory) direct mount sanden compressor, new belt, bolts brackets instructions, wiring etc all included.
Uses ford controls, so dash is 100% factory AC look.
Looks and operates exactly like factory AC.
I just added A/C to my '94 F150 300 I-6, from an '87. Wired it right in as a '94 with my wiring. Working great (except I haven't got the system completely charged, I think only 25# in there right now, I think I can go to 45#).
I took the switch out of one at a junkyard, and I got the rest (hoses, compressor, condenser, accumulator, and complete fan box (with evaporator)) from a guy who was parting out his rig due to an accident. It worked great in his truck when we took it out. He had just replaced the clutch. I replaced the exposed o-rings, and that's all. (I spent $300 plus $10 o-rings plus $5 switch plus $35 recharge kit.)
