Just a word of caution, more like attention to detail, really.
I just replaced the UVC harness on the passenger side the other day. I reinstalled the turbo pipe, and didn't tighten the clamp good enough on the intake. Went out to get some tractor related parts. When leaving the store, I pulled out and got on it a little, up to about 2300 rpm's. Things went very well, until BOOM, what the crap? I managed to blow the pipe out of the boot!!! Man, that does make a bang. Simple fix, just reinserted the pipe, and TIGHTEND the snot out of the clamp. Much better, but sure scared the *#%( out of me!!!
I had the same thing happen when i was test driving my truck after having the transmission rebuilt, The trans shop owner was showing me how strong the trans felt when, BBBBOOOOOSSSSSSHHHHHH. The first thing he said was, OH Sh** what did i just break, so he started to pulled to the side of the road and that when i notice on the boost gauge the we had no boost pressure.
So i had a little fun and let him sweat it out thinking he broke something major.
He looked at me and said, Mark, Whatever it takes i will get it fixed for you.
That when i got my screw driver from the back and put the turbo hose back on.
I ask him with a big grin How about calling it even, He said get me back to the shop so i can make out your bill, with a big grin .
I blew the right boot off the the cooler just after installing a different cooler. I guess that I never really got it on tight. The turck was fine until I hit the interstate, then there was nothing. If I had a boost gauge, I would have probably caught it immediately. I di not get the big bang though.
PureDieselPower is one of my favorite sites. they have great products, and the owner Garrett is one great guy to deal with, even when he's not selling you something.
