i livein canada and i drive an o4 2x4 ranger it is the lightest tuck i have ever owned and we get a lot more snow in northern canada so u dont nead 4x4 if know how to drive

Keep the truck, get a set of snow tires (studs aren't necessary), and throw a couple hundred pounds in the back. You don't need chains. East coast snow is nothing like what they get in the mountains.

I grew up in Buffalo, and drove a 2wd pickup for years. Never got stuck. It's more to do with driver skill than anything else.

2wd pickups are useless in the snow!! i mean useless! talk about zero traction! i vowed never again i would own one after my 1983 f150!
and i haven't!! now mind ya i plow I-93 for the state, snowstorms of over a foot are not uncommon! nothing beats having those extra wheels pulling for ya! i used to carry 2 concrete curbs in the back of my 2wd for weight, coming home after working all day to a street with a foot and a half feet of snow still on it wasn't much fun! however if you are going to live in boston then worry more about where to park and not so much about the snow!
