Well I shelled out $400 last week to get the Powerslot rotors and hawk pads from DPP for the front of my F250. Took the truck up to the tire place to have them installed this morning...$75 plus the cost of R/B & alignment. I told them to check my ball joints, too (truck has 75K).
Got a call an hour later...ball joints and tie rod end are bad, so total to replace them w/ MOOG parts and do everything else, $789. OUCH!
So, $1200 has me a new front end...so much for the leveling kit!
Anything for my truck, though LOL. It does help me earn my living.
Sorry but for almost $800, I would have them show me they are bad rather than take their word for it. Telling them to check them without being there is like a opening you wallet for them to take whatever they want.
agreed. once i had just completed a tune-up on the family van...including the pcv valve of course....but the front end was vibrating on the highway and that was beyond my skill level...so i take it to the local shop and they give me a list of things that need to be replaced because they "looked like they never have" INCLUDING the BRAND SPANKIN NEW pcv valve with no more than 15 miles on it. i've never been back there for anything. gotta watch some people
i purchased a maghytec pan for mine 350 plus found that to use it i had to move a pipe from under the pan at the bottom of the cat so the pan cleared anothe 400 for a custom ss pipe job. the dumb pan would never stop leaking. so i yanked it back off and replaced that with one from ford raceing anther 300 plus . found the front pipe with 2 cats assembly hold to be replaced $1285.00 more . now i have a ford racing pan on my trans. and a fan cooled cooler up front which is about all i really needed a bigger cooler . wasted 36 qts of mercron sp.
that came to $2685.00 to try and keep my trans cooler . all i needed was a bigger cooler with a fan on it .
